A Night to Shine

“A Night to Shine with GEMS” on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park hotel. The second annual event included dinner, dancing, and a charity auction of a variety of exceptional items including jewelry by the Kenza Collection.

Robin was onhand to describe the production techniques and the intention behind each piece and some of her jewelry was even situated on the piano near the dance floor! As anyone reading this blog surely knows, Robin puts a great deal of consciousness into selecting gemstones based on their energetic qualities and creates a supportive context for each piece.

This year GEMS students were involved in the planning of the gala. Each grade (including students from the GEMS World Academy Chicago – Early Years campus) was asked to choose a charitable organization that would receive proceeds from the event. This year’s beneficiaries address a variety of issues and reach local, regional and global audiences:

  • Chicago Coalition for the Homeless
  • Refugee One
  • Trout Unlimited
  • Gilda’s Club Chicago
  • Chicago Parks Foundation
  • Working Bikes
  • The Puerto Rican Agenda
  • PAWS Chicago
  • Alzheimer’s Association
  • SOS Children’s Villages
  • Greater Chicago Food Depository
  • Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation

Proceeds were raised via ticket sales and an auction of items and experiences, including work donated by GEMS students.
